Let’s Meet Kaylee

Being two years younger than Charlie has a lot of advantages, like doing things better than him. I love that it only took me one try to get my hunter number while Charlie had to do the test twice.

Tom and Stephanie are just two of my fellow junior hunters who share and learn traditional ways of living, and other groovy things. Mr. Brimbsy, our instructor, has a funny accent but that’s just cuz he’s from the south. I try not to giggle too much when he calls us “Young Bucks”.

I love hunting with both my parents and wish Mom would climb in the boat once in awhile. I get so tired of listening to Charlie, he can be such a freak at times.

I love using my bow I got for Christmas. It feels good to be one of the best Young Buck archers.

I hope Grandma is in a good mood, cuz I wanna make Chocolate Macaroons. Mom won’t make them cuz she says by the time they’re ready to eat, half of them are gone. They’re just so yummy!

Any ways, I gotta go to my Young Sportsman meeting now.

Deep down Kaylee is a girl who loves pink, doesn’t enjoy getting dirty, and has a hard time getting along with her older brother. When it comes to hunting and fishing, unfortunately Kaylee doesn’t have a lot of patience like our typical young people and myself. We do become bored easily, and act like Russell from the movie UP created by Disney Pixar.

Let’s Meet Charlie

Hey, first off, I’ve just gotta tell ya that I’m a huge video game fanatic. Unfortunately at my place we’re only allowed to play hunting and fishing games. So whenever Norm and I hang out we do it at his place where we can play whatever we want. Norm is my best friend, we met when I was six. Half of my life has been spent adventuring in the area with him.

When we aren’t hunting down dinner we’re fishing. I’m apart of the Young Sportsman Club where Joey, Sarah and I relive our hunting adventures and learn lots of cool things for when we’re out in the woods.

For my eleventh birthday I got a .243 lever action with a clip. Dad said I was mature enough to take care of it. That means cleaning it every time I go out with it. My sister on the other hand has a junior bow that she’s gotta look after.

I’m looking forward to sharing my adventures with you.

Charlie

Charlie is quite the character; highly excitable, and quick to tell you what he thinks or how to do things. In the below chapter Charlie and Mom go on a guided hunt for cariboo where Charlie assumes that because they are being guided that will be easy to hunt cariboo.  As the author I thought this was an important issue to talk about because there are many benefits to having a guide that’s familiar with the area versus entering the same region for the first time and being frustrated at not seeing anything.
