Looking into the hand held mirror we can see many “Selves” that make up the “Whole”. Pondering the meaning of life and its vastness of the human population; the “enter-acting” of society as a whole in its dubious forms as well as the behaviors typically emanated by individuals, and how one can “deal with” all of it.
Whom art thou when it comes to the psychological aspects of the human behavior?
Do you view the mind as a practical actions resulting from thought?
If you do then you are considered to “practice” Pragmatism.
If you enjoy diving into the the nature of the brain and its creation then you would call yourself a Physiologist.
One could go all “psycho” over the unconscious mind influence that are presented to us such as commercials and if this is your “thing” then you would fall under the group of Psychoanalysts.
Finally if you want to discuss that “Behavior is the mind” then you are specializing in becoming a Behaviorist.
Whom was it that started all this “diving into the mind” and the separation of ones’ categorical exploration? The “founding fathers” of these different “schools of psychology” are as follows:
I. Pavlov and C. Darwin enjoyed the brain as nature’s creation. S. Freud and C.G. Jung “dove deep” into the unconscious mind that influences us. William James liked to view the mind as practical actions result from thought while J.B. Watson and B. Skinner liked to say that the behavior IS the mind.
When we are psychologists we need to remember that clients want privacy, for it to be meaningful while subjective and allow the “emotional ranges to flow”.
While in your “psycho mode” you’ll understand how psychological research influences our society, be able to discuss psychology with reasonable confidence unless you’ve been like this for years and then you get “stand on a soapbox” while declaring your right”ness”. Most importantly one should be able to use the principles offered through psychology in resolving problematic issues in life.
Psychology is concerned with the private experiences of people; how they construct their meaning of life, gain understanding of other people and their knowledge of themselves and most importantly that people are primary in all psychological explanations are of human construction.
Adult Psychology is a basis to build upon as there are 3 major fields of psychology which are as follows:
Clinical Psychologist that use psychology and apply it to medicine.
Educational Psychologists obviously specializing in educating.
An Occupational Psychologist helps people with work related issues.
