4/5 Star Review for The Bipolar Workshop http://readersfavorite.com/book-review/8815
Terri Kovalciks’ life was an emotional roller coast until she started going to counselling and reading self help books that she collected from “Share Sheds”. After 4 years of medication side effect problems and re-cooperation she completed a book that tells you what the chemically imbalanced are like, helping to explain how repeated exposure rage builds and most importantly how she became better by taking you on her journey through a fictional story about four people living happily ever after because there can be such a thing.
“If you are looking for straight talk about what Bipolar Disorder is like, the symptoms, how simple small things that repeat can turn into uncontrollable rage this is the book for you.
This book is for you if you want to learn through a fictional story how to bring your emotions under control, and learn the range of the selves by taking a journey with Joanne, Sally, Larry and Peter as they take workshops.
*****The characters in this book are purely fictitious and represent the majority of society who carry the mental illness DNA. The workshops come from the mind of the author as she has taken several workshops, years of counselling, read numerous self-help books and outdated Psychology texts.*****”

Learn the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder, and see what repeated exposure can do if not looked after. Take a journey with Joanne, Sally, Larry and Peter as they take workshops that improve their ability to maintain relationships.
Excerpts from The Bipolar Workshop
Typical Symptoms
The best way to explain how bipolar works, is to learn the symptoms of various disorders. The most important thing that has to be considered is that mood swings don’t just happen; they come from a build-up of emotions, various perceptions, and environmental factors.
Decreased energy, weight loss or gain, hopelessness, excess energy, easily distracted, grumpiness, crying, lack of will and chronic pain that is not caused from a physical activity, as well as thoughts of death and suicide are all very typical signs/symptoms that need to be addressed. But there is also so much more…grandiosity, decreased need for sleep, pressured speech, racing thoughts, spending sprees and doing things without properly thinking them through. Each and every one of these issues need to be looked at, which is even more difficult seeing as that most all these issues are ‘common’ and ‘normal’ – symptoms that any and all have. In other words, these symptoms come from ‘life.’
The Screaming Never Stops
She didn’t want to go to the store but she had to, which meant getting all the kids dressed, putting them into the car, buckling them in, driving for five minutes, unbuckling the belts, helping every child out, taking their hands, looking both ways before crossing the road, putting them all into a buggy…and then waiting for it to begin.
“I want this!” screams one.
“I don’t like that!” cries the other.
“Mommy, I have to pee!” whines the third.
Frances swore she heard this from every child in every store, every day of the week. It was rampant, robotic and painful. No matter how she tries to ignore it, it’s as if a recording is blasting in her ears, playing the most horrific sounds on the planet. The mantra is everywhere…
The mother groans, “You can’t have it. Then don’t look at it. Why didn’t you go at home?”
“But I want it!” the first screams louder.
“I want this one!” flails the other.
“I peed my pants,” the third states proudly.
Frances cringes as she walks by. “You’re a bad mother;” that’s the look registering in all the eyes surrounding her, which increases the level of anger that’s rising in the mothers’ chest.
Taking the child who claimed they peed their pants out of the cart, she seethes through gritted teeth, “Now what are we going to do? Was it an accident?”
The child smiles wide. “No.”
The siblings twitter with laughter.
…She loses it. Grabbing the child by the elbow, she spanks its bum repeatedly.
The child screams bloody murder.
Everyone in the store hears this screaming child and rushes over, casting their hypocritical glares.
The mother looks up with squinted eyes and spots the person with the biggest and proudest look of distaste for her mothering skills.
She storms over with the child. “Here, he’s yours. By the way, he likes to take his poop and wipe it all over the floors and walls. His next favorite activity is to do things that piss you off every moment of the day. I clean something, he makes it dirty. But I’m sure you can do a better job of raising him than I can!”
Walking back to the cart, she picks up the second child and searches for the next hypocrite. “Ahhh, there you are,” she screams, heading toward the woman who looks as if her shows are far too tight considering the pinched expression she has on her evil face. “This one is yours. She wants to be constantly on your lap. She wants to hang off of you while you’re trying to clean the house, and she screams and starts fights with her brother while I’m on the phone!”
The third was found standing at the back of the mob on tippy-toes. She grabs the third child and gleefully states, “This one likes a messy room; she likes her toys spread all over the floor. She doesn’t like to get dirty so she changes her clothes all the time. She only eats hot dogs that aren’t cut up, and she doesn’t like peas. I hope you like making scrambled eggs for breakfast because that is ALL she will eat!”
Grabbing the cart, the mother turns around and heads to the exit. “Time for me to check out, before I forget the screaming never stops. Good luck. ”
Getting into her car, she drives home…enjoying the blissful silence.
*This story has a happy ending because the children have been born as chemically imbalanced as the “balance” in their brains. Whenever they have a traumatic experience their emotional levels increase.
One could think that this suggestion is wrong, and as per human nature you’ve already come up with several alternative options. Therefore, my job of writing this story is a happy one as well.*
